I have worked with Laura since 2021. She has edited 11 of my novels, and the plan is to continue working with her until I am no longer writing! She has an eagle eye, especially when it comes to all the tiny details in a series. Many authors tend to be protective of their work (with good reason), but Laura makes the process smooth and easy. She is wonderful to work with, asks questions when something doesn’t seem right or for clarification, and can tighten up and polish the roughest of edges. I've been working directly with Laura since 2021. I was first introduced to her as my editor when I signed my publication contract with 4 Horsemen Publications. I was immediately impressed with her transparency and desire to both improve my writing while improving what the reader perceives through it. She was quick to respond with any questions I had and took the perspective of editor very seriously, working to point out inconsistencies, timeline issues, and plot holes. What I appreciate most, however, is that she did it in a way that encouraged discourse about it. Her prompts weren't simply "This doesn't work" or "This is wrong," but instead, they came through as "Why is it written that way?" or "What are you trying to accomplish with that specific phrase?" While she understands very well the role that language plays in writing, she understands even deeper the role that emotion plays. In my experience with her, she wanted the latter to be the driving force, and my works are better because of her direction. Anyone who has the privilege to work with Laura will learn to wield the written word with precision and enthusiasm.
